The ever popular Artists Choice Exhibit is now open at the Lakewood Cultural Center in the mezzanine gallery above the lobby of the Cultural Center Theater.  We at the Lakewood Arts Council are thankful to the City of Lakewood who enables us to have an exhibit is such a wonderful space!

The opening reception on Thursday, May 17, was a well-attended event.  Getting underway around 5:30, the event gave full display to the talented artists of Colorado!  Unfortunately, limited space in the gallery forced the artist-juror Michael Untiedt to reject half of the entries, but enabled 101 pieces to be exhibited.  It’s always an honor just to get in the show. With no specified theme, the variety of artwork is always intriguing. 

Everyone enjoyed the refreshment table, served by a smiling Barb Tobiska!

The awards are always a highlight – LAC President Barb Benik presented the awards with the aid of Barb Tobiska.

Don’t forget the free exhibit tour coming up on Saturday, May 19 from 10:30 until 11:30 am.  Kathy Berls will walk the exhibit while sharing the stories behind the artwork.  Some ‘behind the scenes’ information will be directly from the artists themselves!
